Time to act

It’s now a few days after the atrocious act of terrorism in my home city of Manchester. It’s hard to write about this, but I’m hoping by doing so, it will make me feel better.

I’ve grown up and lived in Manchester for 42 years. I know pretty much every inch of the city having grown up in North Manchester, attending University at UMIST in Manchester and then working in South Manchester for most of my adult life. I worked for GMP for eight years before I moved to Wales, so I’ve also seen the good and bad bits the City offers.

I feel angry more than anything and let down. There is just no place in this world for actively targeting innocent children and their parents. It’s cowardly and completely wrong.

Politicians are letting us down, I say politicians rather than Government because to be honest if we had a Labour Government things would be far worse. The Asian community is letting us down; it’s time for them to name and shame the cowards that are hiding within their community. We’re all letting ourselves down by not addressing the issue and practising this #lovenothate approach.

It’s time to get strong and deal with anybody who is in any way associated with terrorism. Why have a ‘watch’ list? DON’T WATCH PEOPLE JUST ACT. Reports say that the scum who carried out the attack was flagged five times by security services, what more do they need? Let’s identify these cowards at the first sign of any problem and send them anywhere but here. If nobody is willing to take them send them to America, Trump will know what to do with them.

On the Move

Hello, and welcome to my blog. I’ve had a blog for a few years now, but I’ve been really rubbish about publishing content. My excuse is that I’ve been too busy working two jobs, bringing up a daughter and being honest, playing FIFA on my PS4 too much. Things are about to change though, I’ve recently quit one of my jobs and I’m about to start running my own design business full time. I’m also packing up and moving from my hometown of Oldham to go and live by the sea in Llanddulas, North Wales.

I’m really excited about things and can’t wait to get started. Design has always been something I’ve loved doing and I’m really looking forward to getting ‘creative’ again. For the past 7 years I’ve been working for Greater Manchester Police as an analyst, and although the people I met there were great, I’ve never really enjoyed it. I’m hoping to spend some quality time with my family too. My daughter Katie is growing up fast and she loves being by the seaside.

We have visited North Wales a lot over the last year, visiting my mother who has recently retired and moved to Rhos-on-Sea, and we’ve also been viewing houses. We’ve been looking at houses for the last 12 months and had three properties fall through, so we were beginning to think our dream wasn’t going to happen. Everything has worked out for the best though and our motto has been ‘Everything happens for a reason’. So at the moment we’re just doing some work on our new house before we move in.

It will only be a few weeks before we move down full time and wave Oldham goodbye. We’re hoping that people will come down and stay with us from time to time, so if you fancy a few days relaxing by the sea, get in touch.
